ABOUT SASHA

My name is Sasha Syssoeva. I was raised in Kaliningrad, a Russian town on the Baltic sea, and moved to the United States during my college years. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child, and attended an art school. I admire works of both old masters and modern artists, and continue enhancing my skills.
For many years I was searching for the meaning of my life until I became a Christian. That is when it became clear to me that God gave me an ability to create to extend His influence throughout the world, and my calling is to be a part of that. Like for many generations of artists before me, my goal is to express and to re-establish Christian worldview and bring it back into modern visual arts and people’s homes. Through my paintings I try to bring God's glories and His plan into sharper focus for myself and people around me. In my two recent paintings “The First Miracle: Turning Water into Wine” and “Stormy Waters: Jesus and Peter” I bring the events from the New Testament to the front and center and invite my viewers to pause and feel their relevance and sacred meaning. My two other paintings featuring Wenatchee Valley Cross were inspired by the work of the Wenatchee Cross Ministry and The Book of Psalms.
I’m thankful to the Lord for His kindness and mercy in allowing me to create art which provides a visual language that would be equally recognizable in the United State of America as in the towns of the Baltic sea where I grew up, and spread Christian faith in artistic form.
