ABOUT AMY

I have been doing art since I was a small child and started doing murals on different walls and community spaces in high school.  As an adult I fell in love with creating flowers for weddings and décor for events and weddings and I have owned my own business for nine years doing events.  I also love painting and creating art! I have created lots of different types of art and the one that I will be featuring for this art show is pressed flower art on canvas. This idea came from all of the beautiful flowers that I work with for the weddings and I wanted to capture them and keep them to enjoy for longer.  The garden themed art is one of my favorites and it takes a long time to make one art piece.  Each art piece is different and it depends on the flowers that are growing during that season they each get pressed individually and glued into place.  I’ve also done lots of art with oil paints and acrylics lots of landscapes flowers dogs and people but my favorite are landscapes.  I’ve done lots of custom paintings for local people and businesses and have taught lots of classes on different art projects, wreath making, and flower design.  My latest paintings can be seen at El Chavo’s Mexican restaurant in Cashmere where I created la Katrina holding an apple under an apple tree which is the symbol of life and death.  The owner also wanted squash blossoms, cactus, and a Mexican flag.  I am a local to Cashmere since the age of five graduated from Cashmere Highschool in 1998, my husband Chris Wall is from Manson and we have two beautiful boys that are nine and 11. I work as a nurse full-time.  My business name is called Salt of the Earth.  The meaning behind it is biblical of course but also how art is the salt that seasons are senses.  Art just brightens our day and give us something interesting to look at and think about.
