ABOUT BRAD
Brad Brisbine is a Wenatchee architect who enjoys skiing, photography, Cascade Mountain high-lakes, and landscape oil painting.
After decades of composing photographic scenes, a 1998 Seattle Art Museum retrospective of Thomas Moran’s paintings was the final catalyst to inspire Brad to buy painting gear, and more fully express his love of God’s natural world. He enjoys the challenge of trying to turn a blank canvas into art, using impressionistic color strokes as a type of shorthand, interpreting an interesting lighting effect or juxtaposition of color shapes. The result is a painterly realism.
Rod Weagant showed Brad the joys of plein air painting, and the late Wm F Reese generously critiqued many of his early paintings. Workshop instructors have included Ovanes Berberian, Kathryn Stats and Calvin Liang.
He lives in Sunnyslope with his wife Jill, and their horse Kona and cats Maddison and Tinka.
